The PGDip in Teaching English as a Foreign Language is offered by specialists in the field of Applied Linguistics.
The PGDip in TEFL has two parts: a taught component and either a dissertation or practical teaching of English language classes.
Students following the practical route will be supported, observed and assessed teaching English. They are also required to produce a portfolio of teaching and testing materials. This route would be indicated on the final PGDip certificate.
The typical entry requirement is a first degree in English Language or a relevant discipline, normally a lower second or above or equivalent. Overseas students are expected to possess an IELTS score of 6.5 with a 6.0 in the writing component and a minimum of 5.5 in all other components.
