Presentación

These Masters programmes are being offered in response to Governments and regions around the world that are prioritising Innovation and the Knowledge Economy as key drivers of economic recovery and growth. There is a global recognition that there needs to be a level of educational support to provide training opportunities that equip key staff with the necessary skills to become effective entrepreneurs and innovators within the Life Science and Healthcare sectors. Furthermore, with the expansion of the principles of healthcare enterprise and innovation in the public and private sectors globally, health and social care service providers require staff (at all levels) to have the key service planning, commercialisation and commissioning skills necessary to provide a personalised, high quality patient experience within financial budgets.

Requisitos

You will require at least a 2.2 honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject. There is also provision for admission that takes into account work experience if you have an undergraduate degree below a 2:2 honours level.

If you do not have an undergraduate degree you must have significant relevant work (or other) experience, which has been assessed as appropriate by the Admissions Selectors.

If you are an international student, you will need to demonstrate knowledge of the English language at IELTS overall 6.5 or Swansea University recognised equivalent.

Programa

The programme is modular and structured in three levels, each building on the next. You can elect to take either the full Master´s programme or the Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma, depending on need and circumstances. The programme is designed to allow you to complete either as full time or part time study. For part-time students, each of the three components are scheduled to take a year each to complete.

Who should take this course?

Any Life Scientist, Healthcare Professional, Manager or Entrepreneurs’ who wish to develop their understanding, knowledge, skills and leadership in Enterprise and Innovation.

Attendance pattern

During the taught element of this Masters programme, students are required to attend the University for 1 week (5 consecutive days) teaching block, followed by 1 week of independent study (i.e. no formal teaching sessions) for the generation of a white paper and ending in the Presentation, Defence and Assessment period in Week 3 for each module.

Attendance during Part Two is negotiated with the supervisor. You are also encourage to attend the Postgraduate Taught Induction Event during the induction week and any programme associated seminars.

The programme will give you generic research training with additional modules exploring:

Commercialisation of Life Science and Healthcare
Regulation and Standards
Translation, Trends and Disruptive Innovation
Plus programme specific modules on Pharmaceutical and Regenerative Medicine, Medical Manufacturing, Healthcare Services Management, Medical Technology and Informatics.
Additionally, you will be able to choose to complete a research based dissertation or a work based reflective portfolio.
