Master Leadership in Dementia Care (Part time) - Máster en Liderazgo en la Atención a la Demencia
Increase your knowledge, improve your practice
If you’re an advanced practitioner involved in high level decision-making and problem-solving, this course will help you to increase your knowledge, think innovatively and practically, and improve your practice.
Develop a deeper understanding of your role and practice
We’ll encourage you to undertake research to gain evidence that you will then critically evaluate to develop your understanding of the impact that changes could have on your role and practice. You’ll also gain an insight into the dilemmas and conflicts associated with introducing improvement plans, enabling you to think strategically about planning service improvement activities.
Finally, you will take forward an improvement cycle in your workplace and use your experience to reflect on future service improvement.
Examples of previous workplace improvement programmes include:
Systematic approaches to radiographer
Expanding capacity of undergraduate student on placements
Coding processes for admitting named clinician
You´ll usually need a degree or equivalent qualification, and you must already be working in a healthcare environment.
As this course is an interim award of MSc Advanced Practice, you´ll need to apply for the MSc. However, you don´t have to go on to complete the full masters if you don´t want to, you can stop after you´ve completed your PG Cert.
You’ll study these modules:
Principles of Service Improvement in the Workplace
You’ll gain an insight into the dilemmas and conflicts associated with introducing improvement plans, and think strategically about the planning of service improvement activities. This module is delivered by distance learning. You’ll be assessed through coursework only.
Engaging with Service Improvement
You’ll use your knowledge to take forward a service improvement cycle in your workplace, from the planning stage through to a series of improvement activities and the outcomes. This will highlight the complexity of implementing change within the fast paced health care environment, and allow you to reflect on your experiences for future service improvements. You’ll study this double module online and be assessed through coursework only.
We´ve developed this course to reflect the philosophies of the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and various charitable and service user representatives, so you´ll be brought up-to-date with current standards.
You may wish to complete the full masters and move on to doctoral level study when you´ve finished this course. However, many students go on to develop, specialise in and lead the implementation of healthcare improvement services. This course is diverse so you could use the skills and knowledge you´ve gained to work in other areas of the public and private sectors.
