The Postgraduate Certificate Commissioning and Dental Advising is aimed at professionals working in dentistry, who wish to develop their role as an advisor to the profession in the emerging and changing world of dentistry.
Applicants must hold either a BDS or relevant Bachelor Degree with Honours. Relevant professional experience may be considered. Applicants must also be actively engaged in dentistry and have sufficient competency in English Language (IELTS Level 7 or equivalent).
MODULE 1
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN DENTISTRY
The aim of the module is for students to critically analyse their own personal and professional development to enable them to fulfil a mentoring and appraising role with colleagues, allowing the requirements of professional practice to be achieved efficiently, effectively and sensitively. Utilising evidence-based practice, the current drivers, context, legal, professional and ethical implications will be examined.
MODULE 2
CURRENT STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF DENTAL SERVICES
The module aims to ensure that students are up to date with the current structure and governance arrangements relevant to their role in primary care dental services.
MODULE 3
THE ROLE OF THE ADVISER IN DEVELOPING CLINICAL DENTAL SERVICES
The aim of the module is to develop the skills, knowledge and competencies of students in developing dental services, including supporting dental practices in the changing environment.
