Sports Journalism is a unique post-graduate program that will prepare you for a career in the ever-changing world of sports media.

During your time, you will learn the best practices for sports journalism in a diverse and gender inclusive environment with peers as dedicated to and as passionate about sports as you.

From covering local athletes and professionals as well as telling the stories behind the games, the players and the fans, you will develop specialized talents in:

Sports writing (print, TV, radio, online, social media);
Broadcast (producing, on-air performance, chase and field producing, radio hosting, updates);
Digital (using editorial publishing tools, blogging, video, audio, Storify, etc.)
Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.)
News journalism that will meet the changing needs of sports coverage (courts, police, etc);
Advanced interviewing techniques;
Sports beat journalism;
Imaging for print and online with DSLR cameras;
Hosting in-studio and in the field;
Newspaper and online layout.


Academic Requirements

College diploma or university degree in any discipline.
We will consider applicants with partial post secondary (minimum two years) combined with relevant experience in the field of journalism.
Additional Requirements
Attend a mandatory program admission session where you will:

Present your resumé
Submit a portfolio of writing that includes a minimum of three pieces of your published or unpublished work
Complete a writing test (this may be waived for applicants with a degree or diploma in journalism)
After applying at Ontariocolleges.ca, you will receive a letter with instructions on how to set up your Program Admission Session.
