This course will prepare you for registration as a midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and to gain a professional qualification.
You can choose your study base to be in Bournemouth or Portsmouth for this course. For September 2014 we will be recruiting to Bournemouth only and for January 2015 we will be recruiting to Portsmouth only.
Throughout the course you will become a proficient and reflective practitioner of midwifery who is able to base their practice on research, holistic care and commitment to lifelong learning. Theory and practice are integrated throughout, and experience is gained in both community and hospital settings, working in partnership with mothers and midwives.
When on placement you will experience the full 24 hour shift pattern to include 12-13 hour shifts, weekends and night shifts.
Applicants will normally have a minimum 2:2 degree in a relevant subject area, or equivalent international degree level qualification

Midwifery graduates can enjoy a wide range of career opportunities. Past graduates have an excellent record of gaining positions within NHS Hospitals, Community Trusts and in the private health care sector.
Many graduates also continue with further study through the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) framework, and there are also opportunities to undertake courses such as Masters and Doctorates.
