This distinctive and clinically focussed Sports Physiotherapy course is designed for Physiotherapists who have an interest in developing their skills within the environment of sport, exercise, human performance and rehabilitation.
The MSc Sports Physiotherapy (Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation) focuses on the theoretical and practical aspects of studying Sports Physiotherapy and there is a strong emphasis on the development of essential sports physiotherapy and related clinical skills.
Our new laboratories allow the measurement of a vast array of physiological and performance variables, including strength, aerobic and anaerobic power, biomechanics and muscle function, sports massage, body composition including DEXA and MRI, MSK ultrasound suite and much more.
MSc Sports Physiotherapy students will be based at the USW Sport Park which is a hub for elite sports performance with treatment rooms and strength and conditioning facilities.
Licenciado/Título de Ingeniero/Título de Arquitecto with an average of 6.0-6.9, Aprobado or above
English language qualifications:
GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
IELTS with an average overall score 6.5 with at least a 5.5 in each component
TOEFL IBT minimum score 88
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): exams taken from January 2015 – overall score of 176 with at least 162 in each component; exams taken before January 2015 – Grade C and no less than borderline in each skill
Trinity College English Language qualifications: ISE III Pass for postgraduate taught courses and research applications
City and Guild’s IESOL/ISESOL tests at expert and mastery levels (C2 and C1) for the majority of postgraduate programmes
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum of 67 points in each elemen

The dissertation enables you to conduct research in an area of Sports Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation of your choice.
Learning and teaching methods
Each module has a one or two hour lecture each week and many have an additional laboratory, clinical or field-based/experiential learning component, such as assessing muscle function, developing taping and massage techniques, conducting experimental data collection in the biomechanics laboratory or hands-on experience in a rehabilitation clinic or treatment room with our practice partners.
Module delivery may vary and could involve an intense block format over one or two weeks. This ensures that the learning experience is both varied and exciting.
Full time daily contact will vary depending on the module options chosen but should span 2-days per week on average.
The MSc Sports Physiotherapy course aims to create professionals who can independently access information and use the information to critically assess, evaluate and disseminate the evidence base related to Sports Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation.
It provides a vocational pathway for qualified Sports Physiotherapists/Exercise Rehabilitators by allowing you to remain in your existing workplace to bridge the theory to practice gap. Our Sports Physiotherapy course provides a formal, clinical and evidence-based arena that enables you to work as effective and autonomous practitioners.
