Requisitos

A good honours degree from a UK institution or equivalent
Students who have gained credits at M Level 7 from Northampton or from other universities can apply to use these towards the MA in SEN and Inclusion if they can demonstrate that their studies have been in the field.
Students who have achieved the National Award for SEN Coordination or the Level 7 OCR Diploma in teaching and assessing learners with dyslexia in the last five years can use their 60 credits towards the Master´s Degree.
International students should be able to show that they have the required English proficiency (minimum 6.5 IELTS​ score or equivalent)

Dirigido

This programme is designed for anyone wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding of issues relating to special educational needs and inclusion at Master´s level, including practitioners working with children, young people and adults in a range of different contexts. However, some modules may require people to be working in practice. We can also offer bespoke training packages for a variety of settings.

Programa

All the modules are 30 CATs points each, apart from the final Dissertation or the Research Thesis which is 60 CATs points. Students can choose modules which:
provide an opportunity to critically reflect on debates and controversies surrounding the development of inclusive practice in a variety of settings and contexts, national and international
develop specialised knowledge and skills in a specific area of need for example Autism, Dyslexia, Severe, profound & multiple learning difficulties/Multisensory/Physical disabilities and Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties

Pupils with Severe, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties

Using Standardised Assessments in Educational Settings
Other relevant awards:

MA SEN and Inclusion (Autism)
This programme is for people interested in developing their knowledge and skills in the field of autism spectrum, including Asperger syndrome. This is ideal for professionals working in a variety of settings.
National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination (SENCo)
This is a course for teachers who want to gain accreditation as a SENCO which, since 2009, is mandatory for the teacher designated as the SENCo. All new SENCOs must gain this qualification within three years of taking up their SENCo post.
OCR Level 7 Diploma Specific Learning Difficulties/ Dyslexia
This provides a qualification appropriate for specialist teachers needing an in depth knowledge of theory and practice relating to specific learning difficulties in more than one context. Applicants are usually in advisory, training or managerial roles.​

Salidas profesionales

Higher degrees can provide an opportunity for higher level responsibility roles and senior posts within education, children´s services or further education. For those who want to pursue further post-graduate research there is also a possibility of studying for a PhD.​
