The HKUST MSc in Environmental Engineering and Management program is designed for those who wish to strengthen their environmental engineering knowledge and to well-prepare themselves for advanced engineering practices with management responsibilities.

The program not only offers advanced environmental engineering and management courses beyond undergraduate-level for part-time and full-time students but also enable students to take several electives from other related programs.


Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Civil / Chemical / Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field with second-class honors or higher, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or tertiary institution.


The target students are practicing engineers in Hong Kong who engage in the design, supply, commissioning, and management of environmental facilities and infrastructure systems. Fresh graduates who have good academic record are also our targets


Jointly offered by the Departments of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the program in Environmental Engineering and Management is meant to meet the needs of practicing engineers who may be engaged in the design, commissioning and management of environmental facilities and infrastructure systems.


MSc students are required to take a minimum of 30 credits of relevant and approved courses, with at least 18 credits of foundation courses from the list below and at least 3 management related courses. Students are also required to complete 6 credits of independent project.
