Master Global Public Health Nutrition - Máster en Nutrición y Salud Pública Global
This programme, which aims to build knowledge, skills and confidence for careers in the public service, is an updated version of our market-leading MSc in Public Service Management. It is aimed at both experienced practitioners from the public and voluntary sectors and those wishing to embark on a career in public service.
This programme builds knowledge, skills and confidence for careers in the health, social care and associated sectors. We also attract international students seeking to learn about modern public service delivery, recent graduates seeking a further career to underpin a future career in the public sector and related sectors king to expand the knowledge base in the public management of health and social care.
Participants are required to take at least four core modules towards your MSc/PG Dip programme (or three for PG Cert programmes). Beyond that, you can select optional modules taught throughout the College of Social Sciences, that appeal to your interests and to bolster specialisms related to current or future career interests.
Compulsory core modules:
20 credits - Public Management*
20 credits - Strategic Management
20 credits - Performance Management
A further 40 credit worth of optional modules delivered by the Health Services Management Centre**
60 credits - Dissertation – you focus in depth on a topic of particular interest, with support from a dissertation supervisor (MSc only)

** typical Health Service Management Centre modules include: Health Services Management; Health and Health Care Policy; An Introduction to Organisational Development for Health and Social Care; Public and User Involvement in Health and Social Care; Quality and Service Improvement in Health and Social Care.
Students can undertake optional modules from within INLOGOV, for example from the Public Service Commissioning Programme (see list below). Further optional modules are also available from elsewhere within the College of Social Sciences, for example from the Health Services Management Centre, Institute of Applied Social Studies, International Development Department or The Birmingham Business School. Typical paths include career progression within the public sector with the participant’s aspirations being more saleable with a supporting qualification. Transferability of skills also supports participants to change organisations or pathways within public and related sectors.
The qualifications will also support postgraduates seeking an entirely new career within the public sector, such as management.
