    Whether you are at a senior level within your professional career, recently graduated or have an interest in mental health issues, this one year flexible taught masters degree in mental health offers a unique opportunity to extend your knowledge.

    This degree is designed to promote knowledge and understanding of contemporary and international perspectives including; socio-cultural-political and economic influences on mental health. You will also be introduced to the range of conceptual and contemporary schools of thoughts that currently inform the study of mental health.

    The course will enable you to:

    Become proficient, creative and innovative in analysing and evaluating perspectives in mental health practice.
    Function at an advanced level within the contemporary political, social and economic environment.
    To develop strategies for role and service development and quality enhancement

    Requisitos

    Licenciado/Título de Ingeniero/Título de Arquitecto with an average of 6.0-6.9, Aprobado or above

    English language qualifications:

    GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
    IELTS with an average overall score 6.5 with at least a 5.5 in each component
    TOEFL IBT minimum score 88
    Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): exams taken from January 2015 – overall score of 176 with at least 162 in each component; exams taken before January 2015 – Grade C and no less than borderline in each skill
    Trinity College English Language qualifications: ISE III Pass for postgraduate taught courses and research applications
    City and Guild’s IESOL/ISESOL tests at expert and mastery levels (C2 and C1) for the majority of postgraduate programmes
    Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum of 67 points in each elemen
    Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements, we run a number of courses to prepare you for academic studies.

    Research module – 40 credits
    Specified modules

    Mental Health Care and Modern Society – 20 credits
    Perspectives in Mental Health – 20 credits
    Dissertation – 60 credits
    Optional Modules

    You can build the right combination of knowledge by selecting modules (up to 40 credits) within the MSc Professional Practice portfolio. Students can also access optional modules from the Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Practice. Optional modules will depend on student demand and programme resources.

    Learning and teaching methods
    Teaching methods include student-led debates, seminars, workshops and presentations. You will be encouraged to be a critical thinker, enabling you to question some ideologies and develop your own ideas informed by evidence and research. The course will be delivered in a relaxed, supportive and educationally stimulating environment.

    Students successfully completing the MSc Mental Health will have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills required to function at an advanced level within mental health services in health, social, independent and voluntary sectors.
