Presentación

This course will help you to cultivate your practical and critical skills in contemporary digital visual culture in a dynamic and encouraging environment. The course, as part of the Convergent Media Framework in the Department of Arts and Media, offers an opportunity to develop a critically informed photographic project with the support of some of the leading practitioners and theorists in the field. Contemporary photography is a discipline remarkable for its fusion of technology with artistic innovation and this post-graduate programme will encourage you to explore this field through experimentation, creative play, project-based learning and collaboration with students from other courses in the scheme.

Requisitos

To apply for a Taught Masters postgraduate course at LSBU you need one of the following:

- IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 580 (Paper) or 237 (Computer) or 90 (Internet)
- Licenciado/Título de Ingeniero/Título de Arquitecto, average 6.0-6.9 (old grading system), or 1.5 in new grading system


For Postgraduate Diploma and Masters courses the normal entry qualification is an Honours degree or equivalent. For some Postgraduate Diplomas alternative qualifications are accepted along with relevant work experience. The University considers each application on its merits and is prepared to admit candidates who can demonstrate they have reached the normal entry requirements on the basis of prior experiential learning.

Applicants for this course must also meet the following additional entry requirements.

Examples of previous and or current practice i.e. portfolio, showreel or website where work can be viewed and an outline proposal of initial project(s) you wish to pursue on the course.

The course has established contacts with The Photographers´ Gallery, Autograph and The Association of Black Photographers, The Barbican, Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Channel 4, BBC Online, Furtherfield, South Bank Cultural Quarter, Southwark and Lambeth Cultural Quarters.

Salidas profesionales

You´ll graduate with an enhanced portfolio for career advancement in the fields of fine art photographic practice; or specialise in other areas of photography such as fashion, reportage and editorial photography; digital imaging; curation; picture research and editing; with skills that could be relevant for work in web/video production companies; and colour management/retouching services, better preparing you for the demands of the creative industries where a fusion and convergence of disciplines is happening Graduates may also pursue careers in teaching or progress to a research degree. It is also a suitable career development choice for creative media practitioners who want to change direction, or broaden their current critical and professional skills to encompass digital media technologies.
