Presentación

This course has been developed specifically to satisfy the demand for one of the fastest growing professional groups – project management. It is a conversion course that enables graduates to change subject or career direction

The line between success and failure in any project is a lot of pressure on any manager’s shoulders. Empowering yourself with project management skills and business acumen will ensure you can be a successful, dynamic leader.

Project managers are in demand in the modern workplace. If you are a young graduate, our degree will enable you to enter managerial level employment with confidence. If you are a mature student it will help to improve and develop your experience.

Requisitos

UK honours degree, or for international students a degree education equivalent to a UK honours degree, 2:2 or above.

Programa

Stage 1
Managing People
This unit aims to provide you with a secure foundation in the concepts and practice of management and leadership in the context of the changing nature of work and business in the international arena. A critically analytical and evaluative approach will be taken to explore these areas in a range of organisational scenarios, to develop a range of conceptual and practical managerial tools.

Marketing & Strategy
The Unit aims to explore and analyse the premise that in order to be successful, organisations need to gain a good understanding of their customers’ requirements and to seek to achieve organisational objectives through the satisfaction of their customers’ needs and wants. The Unit will also look at marketing against the backdrop of corporate strategy development, and establish the linkage between the two activities.

Leadership Essentials
This unit aims to provide you with a critical understanding of leadership theory and practice in a variety of business contexts. The unit supports you to recognise and address the challenges of contemporary leadership and enhances your knowledge and skills in areas such as strategic leadership, leading in a global context, and leading change.

Stage 2
Contemporary Issues in Project Management
The unit explores and evaluates the theoretical and practical perspectives and evaluations of a range of contemporary issues in management. Drawing upon the research conducted by academic members of staff within the Business School, the unit aims to give you a critical understanding, appreciation, analysis and evaluation of contemporary issues in various areas of management, including arguments, problems, controversies and dilemmas.

Project Management Fundamentals
The aim of this unit is to provide you with an environment to identify and develop a critical awareness of project management knowledge, context and boundaries. The unit aims to explore the theories and practices associated with effective project management, as appropriate to a variety of business and technical environments. You will evaluate a range of techniques that are available for effective project management in the context of organisational change and complexity.

Corporate Governance & Ethics
This unit aims to develop a critical understanding of the objectives, principles and methods of Corporate Governance practice within different economic environments. It provides you with a range of frameworks for analysing complex ethical problems and demonstrates how an understanding of corporate governance and ethics can aid managerial decision making, particularly in respect of risk management.

Stage 3
Research Project
The Research Project provides Master´s level students with an opportunity to undertake a significant piece of self-managed research in a relevant area of particular interest.

Optional work experience

You will have the opportunity to undertake work experience as part of the research project unit, subject to interview and availability. The type of work being undertaken will be relevant to your course of study and will provide experience that informs your final research project. Combining work experience with the research project aims to attach further practical context to the value of your learning experience.
