The programme has a strong practitioner focus, providing the opportunity for students to undertake a health psychology work-based placement in order to develop professional competencies. Graduates also benefit from Levels 1, 2 & 3 Smoking Cessation Training, as well as a qualification that meets part one of the BPS requirements for Chartered Health Psychologist status.

Applicants should have, or expect to obtain:
a good (at least a lower second) Honours degree in psychology or equivalent subject that confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society(BPS).
All applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Applicants who require a Tier 4 student visa may need to provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS.

The course also involves a work placement within a professional setting.
Graduates from the MSc course will be eligible to work towards part two of the BPS Chartered Health Psychologist requirements, meanwhile they will be well placed to obtain employment in a range of health settings and can also use the degree for further research, including a PhD.
