Full time participants wishing to obtain the Masters award will:
be managers who have two to three years’ work experience in a finance role, and/or
may hold a 2.2 bachelors in any Accounting & Finance related degree, and /or
may be part or fully qualified/associates of a professional accounting body e.g. Part/fully qualified CPA Australia/ACCA /CIMA/CIPFA/ICAEW/ICAS and ICS.

Accounting at Derby is recognised as being one of the best courses in the UK. In the Guardian League Table 2015, Accounting and Finance at Derby is ranked in the top four of all Midlands universities, and 26th nationally. In the National Student Survey 2014, Accounting at Derby is 2nd in the UK for personal development and 3rd for academic support.
The programme is designed to accommodate the needs of participants who have existing work commitments. It will be delivered over a series of six, three day weekends (Friday-Sunday), with an interval of approximately eight to ten weeks between each session. The programme duration is eighteen months and its delivery will follow the below structure:
There is one 40 credit module, to be delivered over the first two of the weekend sessions, followed by three, 20 credit modules, to be delivered over the next three weekend sessions. The personal leadership 20 credit module will run alongside the weekend delivery sessions to ensure essential leadership content and lessons are appropriately integrated.The final stage of the programme is a 60 credit independent study module. The modules prior to this and specific independent study related sessions are built into the final weekend to ensure the participant is adequately prepared for the last stage of the programme.

The programme is designed to provide you with the academic and practical skills to; progress your career to a senior finance manager role and through the combination of finance and leadership competencies developed within the programme, become more noticeable as a manager who can lead with a financial perspective.
On successful graduation you will be better qualified to apply for more senior roles within your current organisation or others.
The masters will enable you to be more marketable and noticeable in the workplace. In particular the PDP and mentoring elements of the programme will be very useful to you when you are making future career decisions. You will be much more self-aware of your personal skill set and this will enable you to take a more strategic overview of your personal career development.
