English language requirements

In order to undertake a programme of study here at the University, you will need to demonstrate that you have a good level of written and spoken English. You can demonstrate your level of English with IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications. The sections below will tell you what grades you need in these qualifications for the subject area you want to study.

Some degree programmes have slightly higher requirements than those stated here. When this is so, we will ensure that you are informed using the contact details you have provided on your application. If you have been instructed and assessed in English language at a recognised institution, you may be exempt from these requirements.

This degree is aimed at holders of at least an upper second class Honours degree in engineering or similar who would benefit from completing technically-based study with some management at postgraduate level. You might be just finishing your first degree, or perhaps already in your first role and looking to advance your career.

You will learn about systems modelling and systems engineering, as well as the application of problem structuring methods in real engineering situations. You will also learn how to analyse different management strategies and apply critical appraisal techniques in a variety of technical areas, e.g. construction, production, manufacturing.

On completion, you will have gained the skills and knowledge required to work in industrial engineering and/or technical management.
