This degree will provide you with the knowledge and skills required of a professional engineer to design embedded systems for use in control, diagnostics, monitoring and communications. Core elements of the course include state-of-the-art techniques in control system design, signal processing and software design.

2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
English Language Requirements: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. After completing all the modules, you will apply the knowledge you have gained throughout the course to solving an engineering problem at a professional level. You will define the nature of the problem and draw up plans for tackling it, presented as a formal proposal (including a financial costing). Your project supervisor will meet regularly with you for feedback on the project.
Industry placement (optional)
You may, if you wish, choose to study for an MSc in Embedded Systems and Control Engineering with Industry, which includes the opportunity to apply for a range of industry placements arranged by the Department. Your placement, of between three and nine months, will be undertaken after the taught part of the course, allowing you to acquire industrial experience and develop an appreciation of how the new skills you have acquired relate to problems in industry.
