Presentación

The MA Digital Photography is part-time and designed to fit around professional working life. The degree is project-centred, giving you the chance to carry out a creative, practice-based or academic project in Digital Photography. If accepted on to the course, you will conduct a project over two years, under our supervision, as well produce a dissertation in the second year on a related theme.

Our staff are able to provide expert guidance for a wide range of projects and dissertations, and most of the teaching on the course takes place through one-to-one tuition with a Digital Photography specialist. The foundation of our expertise lies in the Centre for Media and Culture Research, which has an established research and publication record. As a Masters student, you are invited to the Centre´s regular research seminars and public lectures.

Requisitos

To apply for a Taught Masters postgraduate course at LSBU you need one of the following:

- IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 580 (Paper) or 237 (Computer) or 90 (Internet)
- Licenciado/Título de Ingeniero/Título de Arquitecto, average 6.0-6.9 (old grading system), or 1.5 in new grading system


For Postgraduate Diploma and Masters courses the normal entry qualification is an Honours degree or equivalent. For some Postgraduate Diplomas alternative qualifications are accepted along with relevant work experience. The University considers each application on its merits and is prepared to admit candidates who can demonstrate they have reached the normal entry requirements on the basis of prior experiential learning.

Dirigido

Typical applicants are working full or part-time in the creative arts, communication and cultural industries, with a good first degree in the arts, humanities or social sciences, or equivalent professional experience. Applicants should have a strong interest in developing an arts or media project.

Programa

Most of the teaching takes place through one-to-one tuition with a subject specialist. You would see your tutor for monthly tutorials, which would normally last about an hour. In addition, all MA students on the Creative Media Arts scheme meet with tutors for symposia three times a year, over three days in January, two days in June and two in September. The MA symposia are intensive all-day sessions, which typically include a mix of project workshops, research methods seminars and guest lectures.

Employers support our project-centred Masters because they enable active learning, project management, skill development, innovation and experimentation. The programme enhances career development in the cultural industries as well as changes in direction within the creative arts. The MA is also a strong foundation for an MPhil or PhD, with a number of our students going on to further study each year.
