Programa

The course is made up of three stages - Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and LLM.
Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma stages
You’ll study:
Legal Scholarship
You’ll enhance your research, communication and independent study techniques, which will help you throughout your Masters degree and will also assist with your personal and professional development. This module provides a stepping stone if you wish to present your work at conferences or have your work published. The skills you develop will also be of direct relevance if you are seeking to undertake a PhD and will help you progress through the early stages of a research career.
You’ll also study two pathway core modules:
Company Law
This module examines how the law has developed to regulate and accommodate the needs of corporate identities. It considers the roles of individuals and their liabilities for these roles in the management and operation of a company, drawing comparisons across different jurisdictions.
International Banking and Finance Law
You will be given an overview of the systems of regulation of the financial markets and the banking sector viewed within a global context. This is considered in light of the recent ‘banking crisis’ and changing political and economic conditions.
In addition, you’ll choose three optional pathway modules from the following:
Commercial Theories - an introduction to influential theories regarding the growth of commercial activity and how these theories relate to the evolution of commercial laws
Construction Contracts and Dispute Resolution - a close look at the complex and interconnected contractual relationships required to complete construction projects
Corporate Governance - exploring corporate governance in relation to both the public and private sectors, including the roles of shareholders, general stakeholders, auditors and the company secretary
Financial Investigation Models
Financial Intelligence and Crime Detection
Intellectual Property in the Digital Age - examining the legal principles and procedures relating to ownership, use and control of information in the context of the internet and other digital media
International Commercial Arbitration - focusing on the rules that govern arbitration agreements and arbitral tribunals, proceedings and awards, including the New York Convention and Uncitral Model Law
National and International Sale of Goods Law - examining the sequence and legal implications of contracts engaged in the sale and movement of goods nationally and internationally.
LLM stage
You’ll study this core module:
Independent Studies
This final module gives you the opportunity to develop deep and specialist knowledge through robust legal scholarship. You will use the intellectual skills you’ve gained during your course to carry out an extensive investigation of a significant topic. You will be supported throughout by a member of our law team with expertise in the area you choose to research.
