Objetivos

The Research Master’s programme in Cognitive Neuroscience studies the cognitive and neural basis of mental processes such as perception, action, language, attention and memory. This relatively young discipline seeks to unravel the workings of the human brain. The Master’s programme offers four specialisations: Language and Communication; Perception, Action and Control; Plasticity and Memory or Brain Network and Neuronal Communication. These specialisations coincide with the themes of the Donders Institute. All the lecturers of the programme are also researchers at the Donders Institute.

Programa

A single Master’s programme with four specializations
Master´s in Language and Communication : Language and Communication; studies the acquisition, understanding and production of language
Master´s in Perception, Action and Control: Perception, Action and Control; studies basic sensorimotor aspects as well as the cognitive, contextual and social components of perception-action coupling
Master´s in Plasticity and Memory: Plasticity and Memory; studies the mechanistic underpinnings and behavioral consequences of long-term changes in neural structure and function
Master´s in Brain Networks and Neuronal Communication: Brain Networks & Neuronal Communication; studies the interaction between and within groups of neurons, and with the outside world

All courses are given by top researchers, who also supervise the traineeships and the writing of the Master’s theses for all specializations. English is the lingua franca for the entire Master´s programme.

All specializations in the Master’s programme have a common basis. In the first year you will become acquainted with the most important theories, models, techniques and analysis methods in Cognitive Neuroscience. For this purpose you will follow the following five core courses together with students from the other specializations:

Trends in cognitive neuroscience

Neuroimaging I

Neurophilosophy

Lab rotation

choice of: Neuroimaging II: haemodynamic methods or Neuroimaging II: electrophysiological methods
You have to choose two out of the following four skill courses:

Neuroanatomy

Advanced math

practical ERP training

Academic writting

Salidas profesionales

Most of the students follow a PhD afterwards others go to the commercial sector or go in a research institute.
