Presentación

The University of Westminster MSc CHM is accredited (approved) by the European Herbal and Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association which accredits courses on behalf of all EHTPA Professional Associations, including the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine. This enables graduates from the MSc CHM to apply for membership of the RCHM register having successfully completed an EHTPA accredited course. The EHTPA system of accreditation was endorsed by, and included in, the initial Steering Group Report to Government which recommended that a statutory register for herbal medicine practitioners be established. It is anticipated that responsibility for approval of all courses leading to qualified practitioner status and registration of suitably qualified practitioners will transfer to the Health Professions Council Register in due course and following government legislation the EHTPA will be working with the HPC to this end

Requisitos

You will need to have a UK degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture (or equivalent). For those where equivalence is being accepted, the length, depth and content of the courses followed and the orientation of the syllabus will be considered. Knowledge and application assessments may be required which show higher education skills. If your first language is not English you should have an IE LTS score of at least 6.5 (with the written component at a minimum of 6.5) (or equivalent).

Objetivos

The aim of this theoretical and clinical professional-entry training is the modification of classic formulae to create new formulae which address complex patterns of illness.

This course contextualises Chinese herbal medicine within its historical roots, and grounds it in the legal, ethical and interprofessional framework of the UK.

Phytochemistry and pharmacokinetics are integrated into the understanding of the energetic interactions of herbs. Theory is deconstructed and applied in the clinic from year one and your diagnostic skills developed to meet the individual needs of patients. Our challenge at the University is to translate, evaluate and promote clinically effective treatments from the East Asian medical tradition, in order to properly integrate them into Western healthcare. This is an area which is key to the research being carried out within EASTmedicine (East Asian Sciences and Traditions in Medicine), under the direction of Prof Volker Scheid, who teaches on the course.
