Presentación

Motorsport is as much a business as a sport and this new one-year Masters programme will provide students with a programme of broadly-ranged academic modules which examine the national and international aspects of the industry from a commercial perspective.

From a business and a sport perspective, this new one-year Masters programme will provide students with broadly-ranged academic modules which examine the national and international aspects of the industry from a commercial perspective. From governance, structure and the principles of sports law, through the importance and interdependence of commercial rights holders, promoters, manufacturers, teams, sponsors and the role played by the media, this course is aimed at enhancing the professional and career prospects of those with an aspiration of working within this exciting and challenging global industry.

Developed in collaboration with the UK’s highly respected industry / governance representative bodies and leading individuals the course is a programme focussed on providing the knowledge and networking opportunities required to fulfil future leadership and senior management roles. You will be taught by industry professionals who excel in the various fields of the business of motorsport and as part of the Complementary Curriculum ™ you will also benefit from the valuable industry insight provided by circuit and industry site visits as well as VIP guest speakers drawn from the world of F1 and elite motorsport.

Requisitos

You will have a Bachelor’s degree with 2:1 classification or an international equivalent. International students that require an IELTS must have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 (minimum of 6.0 in Writing, Speaking, Reading and Listening, or recognised equivalent). Relevant academic experience in business, marketing or sport is desirable.
Applicants should note that possession of the minimum entry criteria does not in itself guarantee admission.

Programa

History, Structure & Governance of Motorsport
This module aims to provide a solid theoretical background on key themes within the context of the history and development of motorsport. The module will also provide a thorough understanding of the roles, responsibilities and operating framework of the key regulatory and commercial organisations within the motorsport industry.
Principles of Commercial & Sports Law
This module offers the student the opportunity to look at the law and its application to sport. Students will have a sound understanding of the main academic concepts of sport and the law, governing bodies and the laws that affect sports around the world. There will be the opportunity to hear from esteemed industry experts as well as lectures covering the most pertinent legal cases and their application to motorsport.
Commerce within Motorsport
This module offers the student the opportunity to look at a wide range of commercial principles as applied within the motorsport industry. From the budgeting and financial management of competing in motorsport as a driver or team, the costs of managing a motorsport venues, sponsorship and brand activity through to the need for fan engagement. There will be the opportunity to hear from esteemed industry experts as well as lectures covering pertinent commercial case studies.
Sponsorship Models in Elite Motorsport & the Role of Media
This module offers the student the opportunity to look at a wide range of commercial principles as applied through third party support and sponsorship of motorsport activity. From the principles of market research, rights evaluation, activation, the mechanics of the media through to measurement analytics, this module will provide the student with a comprehesive opportunity to explore the process of commercial support to motorsport from start to finish. There will be the opportunity to hear from esteemed industry experts as well as lectures covering pertinent commercial case studies.
Motorsport Venue, Event & Safety Management
This module offers the student the opportunity to look at a comprehesive and contemporary range of operational principles, as applied to the management and staging of motorsport venues and events. With an in-depth study of the current wider legal legislation as applied to the management and safety of sporting and entertainment venues, through to the specific organisational requirements for the staging of motorsport events at a wide range of venues e.g. Club circuits, Grand Prix circuits, closed public roads, rally events based on private land, etc., this is a unique opportunity to gain a detailed insight into a complex, challenging but rewarding aspect of motorsport. There will be opportunities for students to visit and work with key venues and events to enable their theoretical study to be enhanced with practical knowledge. There will also be opportunity to network and hear from leading industry experts as part of this module content.
Motorsport Brands, their Extension & Future Trends
This module offers the student the opportunity to explore a range of topics related to the current and future commercial rationale for brands becoming associated with motorsport. What do brands look for in their association with motorsport and how is this likely to evolve in the future? Will the sport need to adapt to meet the evolving needs of those who pay? From F1 high-street retailers, the console generation, F1 theme parks to electric racing – how will motorsport develop its commercial appeal to attract, sustain and retain a new generation of sponsors and fans? As part of this fascinating module there will be the opportunity to hear from esteemed industry experts as well as lectures covering pertinent commercial case studies.
