Master Advanced Practitioner: Occupational Therapy - Máster en Terapia Ocupacional
This Occupational Therapy pathway is part of the MSc Advanced Professional Practice programme, which enable students to develop and enhance their professional practice.
The University of Northampton boasts one of the longest established Occupational Therapy Schools in the UK and has a very high professional reputation. The course will be delivered by University staff and a range of highly regarded external speakers, bringing their own experience and current research to your learning. University staff have extensive experience of international teaching and learning and offer structured international induction including diagnostic assessment, online and face to face support. The course will encourage you to develop a critical, research and evaluative approach to the knowledge which underpins present-day professional practice and evidence-based decisions. Current issues within occupational therapy practice will be considered critically and explored in relation to occupational science.
You will normally hold a recognised First or Second Class Bachelor´s degree in Occupational Therapy. Relevant professional and educational experience is also taken into consideration. Applicants for whom English is not their first language will need to demonstrate that they meet the minimum English language requirement of IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent).

In this module you will explore, debate and evaluate your understanding and application of the concepts of occupation within professional and practice contexts.
This skills-based module equips occupational therapy, physiotherapy and podiatry practitioners with professional reasoning, critical reflection and current and new professional skills.
Research Methods: Philosophy and Study Design
You will refresh existing skills and develop further skills in the execution and interpretation of research. This module will prepare you for your Professional Project.
Rehab and Recovery
In this module you will critically appraise current approaches to rehabilitation and recovery in health and social care. You will be encouraged to reflect on the person centeredness of your practice and review the effectiveness of your outcomes in relation to goal-setting, empowering and to enabling the individuals that you are working with.
Implementing Innovative Change in Practice
You will analyse your work environments and use problem solving and strategic planning to meet and manage change.
The module will provide you with the opportunity to identify an area of current practice and to identify potential developments using recognised research techniques from health and social care (for example: audit or evaluation, primary research or systematic review). This module develops project specific skills relevant to the method of inquiry selected and develops the ability to work independently and to reflect on professional practice.
