Presentación

The MA Advanced Practice (Social Work with Vulnerable Adults) offers a CPD route which is linked to career progression but retains the emphasis on advanced social work practice with vulnerable adults. The programme will meet the needs of social workers already practising at a senior level who wish to progress to advanced level and meet the expectations to practice in complex situations, exercising high quality professional judgements.

Students will be exposed to a variety of learning and teaching methods, including lectures, discussion groups and guided independent study. Participants will bring significant experience, knowledge and skills to the programme. Specifically designed unit guides and reading materials are designed to enable students to build upon and develop their existing knowledge base and maximise opportunities presented. Core texts will provide base-line knowledge for students to debate, though wider and diverse reading will be encouraged. Bournemouth University’s online learning platform ‘myBU’ will be used for student learning and support.

Requisitos

Applicants will normally hold a social work qualification recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council or a qualification in an allied profession. You must hold at least a Diploma level qualification, such as a Diploma in Higher Education (DipHE) or equivalent.

Programa

Evidencing Professional Learning (EPL) 1, 2 and 3
These units can operate either as work based CPD units or used to consolidate previous learning prior to undertaking the Masters level programme. The EPL unit can be used up to three times within the programme. The unit aims to develop skills in reflection and critical evaluation of self as a lifelong learner and develop the application of learning outcomes in the complex and unpredictable professional context. Participant will be enabled to demonstrate reflection and evaluation of change in professional practice

Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care
The Advanced Practice in Health and Social Care unit aims to enable qualified health and social care practitioners to demonstrate they have enhanced knowledge and skills to advance their practice capability when working in complex situations. Participants will also develop the ability to work across organisational and professional settings in exercising professional judgment and responsibility.

Leading and Enabling Others
The Leading and Enabling Others unit has been designed for social work managers who wish to enhance their ability to enable others to learn and improve their practice. It focuses on developing skills in working with both individuals and groups to facilitate reflective practice, promote a culture for learning and support the development of professional capability. Participants will develop a sound underpinning knowledge base which they will be encouraged to use critically to inform their leadership approach.

Critical Thinking in Advanced Practice (Vulnerable Adults)
The Critical Thinking in Advanced Practice unit aims to enable qualified practitioners in health and social care to develop their expertise in critical thinking; making critical use of evidence from research and practice experience to inform complex judgements and decisions when working at an advanced level of professional practice.
