The emphasis of this programme is on the tactical aspects of management. The programme is aimed at the hands-on manager who has the authority and personal skills to direct operations and to contribute towards organisational strategy. The aim is to enable the operational manager to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the operations for which she/he is responsible by means of:
Optimum tactical utilisation of resources
Effective communication
Development of the team as a coherent, mutually-supportive and motivated group of people
The programme is a competence based approach which requires students to demonstrate competence across a range of units. To achieve this, a variety of methods are used including: formal input, group activities, simulations and work based assignments. In addition, candidates will also be expected to undertake a project of some significance of approximately 5000 words length.
